Day 6 - Today We Dance

Hola!

I'm sitting outside at a cafe eating tapas and drinking cafe con leche. It's early afternoon and this is our "breakfast". We decided to sleep in today since we have to wake up early tomorrow to head to Aix En Provence, France. There is a man playing saxophone to our right who is a better street performer than most. It a hot day but there is a wonderful breeze. So we sit and enjoy.

Yesterday Josh and I attempted to visit the art galleries in Barcelona. Again, they were all closed. We even checked the times to make sure we didn't go during the middle of the day break! It's so odd that they are not open...

We visited the Picasso Museum in Born. The museum itself is a beautiful old building. Very "European" with stone arches and a stone floor. The interior had a few gilded rooms that were stunning. Most of the work shown is Picasso's process rather than final works. We spent an hour in the museum studying the pieces. Josh has wanted to go to museum since we got here and was like a child in a candy shop!

Flamenco at Tablao Cordobes

At night, we went to a Flamenco show. We had no clue what to think of it before going but we figured, why not! It was fabulous! The dancers were fantastic and clearly classically trained. The traditional clothes/costumes were lovely and had beautiful movement. A group of men sang and played guitar the entire time. We sat in a small theatre with many people crammed into the space, drinking sangria and fixated on the music and dancing in front of us. This was one of my favorite things  we have done in Barcelona!

After the show, we were starving but all of the kitchens were closed so we cooked at home. Josh and I bought very thin pasta which we clearly cooked wrong because it turned into a sort of oatmeal mush. We also bought ham, butter, a bottle of wine and a #6 candle (to celebrate our 6th day in the city). The man in the supermarket was very confused by our purchase. Hahaha

Today is our last day in Barcelona so I must go!

Ciao,
