Fleeting

Man is fleeting while nature continuously evolves yet never ceases to exist. The progression from intrusive man to complete emptiness is intriguing in more ways than one. Through both near and far shots, these photographs embrace the idea of the viewer seeing the land through my eyes. These images are my personal understanding of the erosion of man back into Earth and the beauty that Earth holds when stripped of all mankind.
To show the progression of the containment of man to the vastness of Earth, the prints change frame proportions from full to panoramic. The emptiness of the land is peaceful and contemplative. The panoramic framed images bring forward both a poetic and romantic aesthetic. The richness of tonality in each image expresses the beauty of the land and the power of impact it holds.
Our Earth is fleeting. We were given this life and the changes in and out of our control to observe and question. Enjoying these moments while they last is crucial because they will eventually fade and change. This is inevitable. The low country marshes show my enjoyment of capturing beautiful landscapes while also savoring Savannah while it lasts only a short period more of time in my life.
This series entitled, “Fleeting” shows the longing for the marsh and the uncertainty of man intruding the land in the photographs. The pining for the unknown only disappears in the images where man has completely deteriorated. Man will always long for the ground from which he came from. This yearning is in him until he ceases to exist.
